History: Produced by the Daimler Company in the UK from 1962-1967, the original Daimler V8 was the last car to have a engine bearing the same name after the company was acquired by Jaguar Cars. The four door saloon was produced in Coventry, and launched late in 1962. The V8 engine was more compact and lighter than the straight six engine in the Jaguar Mark 2 and the suspension settings were revised accordingly to suite the altered weight distribution. 3 years after its launch, a Daimler 2 1/2-litre saloon with automatic transmission tested by the Britains Autocar Magazine in May 1966 reaching a top speed of 112 mph and achieving 0-60 mph in 13.6 seconds
